The high page count and colour capabilities are made possible by the facility to print both 4/4 and 1/1 in two four-high towers, added KBA.
The overall press line comprises four full H-type four-high towers with automatic ink supplies, six KBA Pastoline reelstands with the KBA Patras M Compact reel handling system, colour and cut-off register controls, a folder superstructure with former and a KF 3 jaw folder with options for length and cross perforation and a quarterfold.
The press is operated via two EAE control consoles incorporating the PRINT PP job scheduling and pre-setting system, a RIP interface and a diagnostics PC.
Since the market launch of the eight-page newspaper press at Drupa 1995, well on 30 KBA Comets have been ordered by newspaper printers on the Iberian peninsular, said KBA.
The latest investment will secure Rotimpres's position as the number one print centre in Gerona, added the German press manufacturer.
Rotimpres prints numerous daily newspapers, including El Punt de Girona and El 9 Esportiu de Girona, as well as advertising free sheets J'Annonce, Appel Immo, Leclerq, Leroy Merlin and other contract work such as an edition of Marie Claire for Languedoc-Roussillon and Revenda i Mercats for the Segundamano group.
