KBA has set up a JDF demonstration room in the customer centre at its sheetfed offset facility in Radebeul (Germany) The facility offers prospects a chance to test drive a JDF workflow embracing management information systems (MIS), pre-press and press

The entire production process, from (electronic) job scheduling to statistical cost accounting, can be demonstrated in the room using current or past data supported by media technology.

Video systems are being installed to provide a direct visual link to the demo presses, which are at three separate locations, said KBA.

The presses are all embedded in a Logotronic Professional production management system.

Each job printed for demonstration purposes is generated using Technologic MIS software supplied by Rogler and processed in JDF using Creo's Prinergy workflow software.

The plates are exposed digitally in a Lotem 800 II Quantum platesetter and pre-press data for automatic ink key preset are routed to a KBA Logotronic console using Creo's CIP4-compliant Printlink software.

Demonstrations of a number of components can be given, including KBA's Logotronic Professional, Logotronic Basic (CIPLink and job protocol), Densitronic S (job scheduling, dynamic colour control)and Servicetronic Professional, as well as Creo's Prinergy workflow, MIS Technologic and a press maintenance program.
