Dutch Printer Extends KBA Production Capacity
Dutch printing house Janssen Pers Rotatiedruk, a longstanding KBA customer based in Gennep, has ordered an extension to the single-width Continent web press it installed in 1999.
The company added that amongst Syrian printers there is an emerging move away from small-format mono and two-colour presses towards four-colour and five-colour half-size and medium formats, with the Rapida 105 universal five-colour press that KBA exhibited at the show attracting a lot of interest.
Although KBA said that attendance figures were relatively low compared to other print fairs, the proportion of trade visitors was high and press demonstrations attracted big audiences.
KBA believes that visitors were impressed by the B1 (40") Rapida's stability and smooth operation, even at high speeds, when printing posters on paper followed by 350 gramme (14pt) carton.
Visitors to the KBA stand wishing to find out more about the Rapida 105 universal and other KBA products included politicians, amongst them the Minister for Trade and Industry, Abdulqadir Al Ani and key decision-makers like the manager of the police printing plant in Damascus and the owners of big private printing houses from throughout the country.
As one of the few press manufacturers to exhibit equipment at the show KBA said that it earned plaudits from members of the trade and the company added that it is hoping to reap the benefits in the form of new orders, especially now that Syria's new political openness is paving the way for growth in the printing and finishing sectors.
