KBA Rapida Presses Make Their Mark In

An investment set to maintain and extend the company's competitive edge is how Surrey printer, Aldridge Print Group has described its purchase of a new KBA Rapida 105 ten-unit sheetfed press.
The press operators are reported to have had no trouble becoming acquainted with the new technology of the first 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) Rapida 105 in Belgium.
In conjunction with quality control via Densitronic S, colour stability can also be guaranteed at high speeds, for repeat jobs and on long runs, said KBA.
A further 18,000sph KBA Rapida 105 is to be delivered to long-standing KBA user Antilope NV in Lier.
The press is a six-colour version with coating tower, extended delivery and an SIS infeed.
It is to replace a Rapida 104 originally installed in 1997, the last press of the series still in production at Antilope.
The higher output and faster job change-overs possible with the Rapida 105 convinced Antilope's proprietor Marc Binnemans that it was again time to invest in a Rapida medium-format press.
Configured on a 450mm plinth, with special board handling equipment and the latest KBA dryer technology, it is to join the five-colour Rapida 105 with in-line coating facilities with which the company made its first moves in to packaging last year.
Discussions with the KBA design and service departments flanked the investment decision.
It was in this way possible to incorporate a number of individual options supporting Antilope's commitment to its packaging operations.
The enlarged print and plate format, for example, was matched to that of the previous equipment, ensuring the full flexibility of the new press and smooth integration in to the existing setup, added KBA. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
