16-Pages KBA Compacta With Flying
Imprint Changes

French print house Sud Graphie Rotative is expanding its equipment base with a new 16-page commercial web press.

French print house Sud Graphie Rotative is expanding its equipment base with a new 16-page commercial web press The Compacta 215 purchased from Koenig and Bauer (KBA) by Sud Graphie, a member of the Serge Laski group, follows the 24-page KBA Compacta 318 which it installed two years ago

Sud Graphie Rotative's new Compacta 215 was chosen to complement the existing production capacity at the Saint Sulpice facility, where a Compacta 318 and two older 16-page presses are already in operation.

The 16 A4 pages that the new press will deliver at a claimed web speed of 9.5 metres per second, will provide a further 55,000 copies per hour.

The fifth printing unit and the imprinter function of the first and second units on the new Compatca 215, will permit flying imprint changes for both sides of the web, as well as the use of special colours and varnishes.

The press is equipped with an inline colour measurement and control system.

Automatic plate changing will also reduce times for production switches.

One aspect of the individually tailored installation is a cross lead to the parallel Compacta 318, enabling the 16-page and 24-page outputs of the two presses to be run together over a single folder for a 40-page product.

The Compacta 215 is scheduled to come on stream in August.

Serge Laski group turnover last year was 100 million Euros, to which the 45-employee Sud Graphie contributed over 15 million Euros.

Advertising print makes up around 50 per cent of the product range of the web operations.

Regional journals and magazines are further major fields. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
