Dutch Printer Extends KBA Production Capacity
Dutch printing house Janssen Pers Rotatiedruk, a longstanding KBA customer based in Gennep, has ordered an extension to the single-width Continent web press it installed in 1999.
The printing units, which have a typically Spanish 578mm (22.5") cut-off and a maximum web width of 1,640mm (64.25"), are configured as convertible nine-cylinder satellites for greater flexibility and accurate registration.
Extensions are also scheduled in the near future for the company's other locations and contract printers.
In addition to that, regional newspaper publishing house Diario de Burgos has ordered a new KBA Comet for next year to contract print 'El Pais'.

Mail and Standard Set Flexo Standards Higher
The world's largest flexo newspaper production installation is growing even bigger.
The line-up will comprise eight KBA Pastoline reelstands, six towers for 4/4, an H-unit for two mono webs and a KF 3 jaw folder.
Provision has been made for a second folder and additional tower, which will create two identical press sections.
New and second-hand KBA Comets are earmarked for a new production plant in Medina del Campo that is operated jointly by El Mundo and Cosmar.
The new press, which will have eight Pastoline reelstands, five towers and two KF 3 folders, will come on stream in the autumn and will print local editions of 'El Mundo' along with other titles.
The second-hand press has a 630mm (24.75" cut-off and will be relocated from Valladolid to boost semi-commercial production.
Meanwhile, Artes Graficas de Ibiza has also booked a KBA Comet to increase colour in its local daily title, 'Diario de Ibiza' and other publications.
The new press will be capable of printing 32pp tabloids in full colour or 64pp tabloids with 16 full-colour pages, said KBA.
In the summer Heraldo de Aragon in Saragossa will be adding a reelstand, printing tower and folder to a Comet press that has already had a number of extensions.
The flexible configuration of the towers allows the company to print up to three products simultaneously, which KBA said is a big advantage with high-circulation, low-pagination freesheets.
Informaciones Canarias on Gran Canaria has ordered an additional Pastoline reelstand and two printing towers for the Comet press line it started up in 2003.
Following completion in early 2007 the press will have a total of six towers and will be able to print 'Canarias 7', a daily that switched to full colour in April 2005, in virtually one pass.
All the new and extended Comet press lines have a 578mm (22.75") cut-off and web width variable between 635mm and 870mm (25" - 34.25"). Request a free brochure from KBA ...
