At Grafitalia 2006, to be held at the new exhibition centre Fiera Milano in Rho (Italy) from May 9-13, KBA will be unpacking some of its latest developments They will include small-format, half-format and medium-format sheetfed offset presses, including corresponding integrated workflow systems

The KBA-Italia stand at Grafitalia will be in hall 13 (stand D49/D55).

The centrepiece of KBA's presentation at the show will be a six-colour Rapida 105 press equipped for in-line hybrid finishing.

Claimed to be capable of printing speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) the automated medium-format press series is already widely popular throughout Italy in the most diverse configurations, said the company.

The Grafitalia press has been configured for packaging printing and is raised on a 450mm plinth.

Its features include a non-stop feeder with KBA's Sensoric infeed system (sidelay-free infeed), FAPC fully automatic plate changing, inking unit temperature control, a non-stop delivery with ACS (Air Cleaning System), ACR video register, Densitronic S colour measurement and control and the Logotronic production management system.

The spectrum of finishing possibilities and the claimed fast change-overs between the different finishing options, are to be demonstrated with live production of motor-racing and football posters, stickers and other souvenirs for the football World Cup fans on the stand, said KBA.

The printers on the B2-format KBA Performa 74 press will also be focussed on football images, including postcards and reproductions of paintings by Horst Kordes.

The artist himself will be on the KBA stand to sign the prints and to present further original works.

Grafitalia will be the first time that the Performa 74 is to be shown at a trade exhibition in Italy.

The five-colour model to be seen in Milan stands out with what KBA believes is an attractive price and performance ratio and user-oriented automation systems.

It is equipped with semi-automatic plate changing, remote register correction and automatic washing systems for the blankets and ink rollers.

The Graficontrol console with optional integration in to a JDF workflow and non-stop facilities at the feeder and delivery are further details which contribute to the ease and convenience of operation, claimed KBA.

A Genius 52 UV press from KBA-Metronic, in a configuration with coating unit and extended delivery in the B3 format 36cm x 52cm completes the exhibition line-up.

Designed to cater for especially high-quality waterless offset printing in the growing short-run market, this press has also attracted the attention of Italian printers with fast make-readies and a claimed minimum of start-up waste.

The UV version, with an optional coating unit and extended deliveries in various lengths to suit different applications, is said to be capable of handling papers from 0.1mm thickness, as well as plastics, lenticular film and board up to 0.8mm.

Grafitalia visitors will be able to see the Genius 52UV printing on 220and#956; PVC and on the increasingly popular lenticular films.

The delivery of the exhibition press is also equipped with the freely programmable Alphajet C system from KBA-Metronic, for the variable personalisation of individual sheets on a continuous inkjet basis.

KBA said that it has played a leading role on the Italian print market - one of the most important markets in Europe - not least with its installations of sheetfed presses for medium-format, large-format and superlarge-format offset.

Presses have also been ordered for commercial web and newspaper offset applications, amongst them several large-scale installations. Request a free brochure from KBA ...
