KBA has reported that strong sales in Italy are continuing to reinforce the importance of the territory amongst the company's key markets.

KBA has reported that strong sales in Italy are continuing to reinforce the importance of the territory amongst the company's key markets That was demonstrated after Drupa 2004, when most of the latest generation, 18,000 sheets per hour Rapida 105 presses were delivered to Italian printers

The company added that the last few months have seen sales in the large-format segment decline slightly due to the already very high number of KBA installations.

With 10 years having passed since the introduction of the Rapida Jumbo at Drupa 1995, however, significant investment in replacements is expected shortly.

KBA said that some Rapida 205 Super Jumbos are already in production south of the Alps.

Over the last few years KBA said that it has also managed to secure an excellent position in commercial and newspaper printing presses on the Italian web offset market as well.

The biggest Italian printing companies use KBA Compactas.

In addition to the double-circumference presses, the focus in recent years has turned to single-circumference systems for 16pp and 24pp A4, although Italy is traditionally a double-circumference market.

In no other country are so many 48pp, 64pp and 72pp web presses in use.

Rotolito Lombarda in Piotello, for instance, is receiving the first 72pp Compacta 818, whilst Cantelli Rotoweb in Bologna and Mediagraf in Padua have each ordered a Compacta 618 press.

Union Printing in Viterbo is adding a KBA Compacta 318 in 24pp format.

In the newspaper industry too, KBA said it has managed to pull off a large number of major projects over the last few years with the support of GAM International These include nine Commander and two Comet web presses for several production facilities of the leading Italian newspaper group Rizzoli Corriere della Sera (RCS).

In addition, two KBA Continent systems at Il Giornale, several Comet systems for additional printshops and a Commander system for both Societa Editrice Siciliana in Messina and Gazzetta del Sud Calabria in Rende are being installed at the moment.

And only at the end of April 2006, KBA received a further order for three Colora web presses for the Bologna, Milan and Florence sites, each press consisting of four printing towers with one folder each. Request free introductory details about products from KBA ...
