On the final day of their annual summer convention, members of the Motovun Group Association paid a visit to KBA's sheetfed press production plant in Radebeul.
Named after the mediaeval town in Croatia where the first convention took place 30 years ago, the association numbers prominent book publishers from all over the world amongst its members.
The idea of meeting regularly came about as a means of promoting an international platform for exchanging titles and publishing books in various languages, for instance.
Most of the member companies are publishers of illustrated books.
Sixty members from 20 countries attended the convention in Dresden (Germany) where a number of guest speakers offered the benefit of their experience on topics ranging from current developments in the German book market to the errors that most frequently occur within the publishing sector.
The excursion to KBA in Radebeul focused on technological advances of most relevance to the book sector.
KBA president and chief exeuctive officer Albrecht Bolza-Schunemann addressed the visitors, who were also briefed by the company's sales director, Thomas Kagemann, on KBA's press range and the range of supported special applications.
Print demonstrations on medium-format and large-format presses and a tour of the factor rounded off the programme.
