Of the 7,000 entries in the eighth Dresden Marathon (Germany) 40 were KBA and customer staff, exactly twice as many as in the first KBA team entry last year.

The marathon through the historic centre of the baroque city was the climax of a two-day team meeting KBA organised in Radebeul and Dresden.

There were five KBA competitors over 10km (6.25 miles), 28 in the half-marathon (21.1km or 13 miles) and seven in the full marathon of 42.2km (26 miles).

The first KBA team member to cross the line over the 10km distance was Florian Susse of Maxroi Graphics, Gorlitz, who crossed the line after 43 minutes 39 seconds.

In the half-marathon it was Markus Lutz of Aprinta in Wemding, whose time of one hour 23 minutes and 15 seconds gave him an overall ranking of 50th, or 16th in his age group.

Carrying off the team laurels in the full marathon was head of KBA engineering Peter Jentzsch, who completed the course in three hours 27 minutes and 27 seconds, placing him 43rd in his age group.

Following the success of this year's team event plans are already being made for next year.

KBA said that anyone wishing to participate should keep a space free in their diary.

The ninth Dresden Marathon will even include an official KBA half-marathon.
