Two KBA Rapida 74 five-colour B2 28-inch coater presses that have gone on stream at Nitoli Industria Grafica and Grafica Adonis show that the press is popular in Brazil The 18,000 sheets per hour (sph) presses have been installed at the printing plants that have been working with KBA sheetfed presses for a number of years

KBA said that one of its Rapida 74 presses that went in to operation at Nitoli Industria Grafica in Sao Paulo has given the packaging specialist a productivity boost.

The company's fourth KBA press in total, the Rapida 74 joined two Rapida 72 K two-colour versions dating back to 1995 and 1998 and follows a Rapida 74 five-colour coater press that was installed in 2002.

Founded in 1969, Nitoli Industria Grafica has evolved from a commercial printer to a specialised printer of packaging.

The 45-employee company backs up its products with a range of customer services that have internationally amongst brand manufacturers in the USA and Europe, whose standards are high, said KBA.

Company head Jorge Tadeu Nitoli said: "Our growth and our entrepreneurial success are closely linked to the performance of the KBA presses.

Our investment in the new-generation Rapida 74 five-colour coater press, whose output is 3,000 sheets per hour faster than that of its predecessor, enables us to print high-volume jobs with the same reliability and timeliness as shorter runs.

And like its predecessor, the new Rapida 74 features an optional CX board-handling package.

So it can print a broad range of substrates." Grafica e Editora Adonis in Americana, near Sao Paulo, can look back on an equally successful association with KBA said the company.

The Rapida 74 that took up production there last October is the company's sixth KBA press.

In the 45 years since it was established in 1961 by Agostinho Comelato, Grafica e Editora Adonis has also built up a solid reputation in the Brazilian market for performance coupled with quality.

Americana was founded by immigrants from America.

Of Italian descent, the Comelato family has steadily grown its business since settling in the city after emigrating from the USA.

Today the 3,400 square metre (36,600 square foot) site employs a staff of 53 people in pre-press, press, post-press and administration.

Grafica e Editora Adonis' association with KBA dates back to 1994, when it installed three Rapida 72 K two-colour presses.

They were joined in 1999 and 2004 by a Rapida 74 four-colour coater press and a Rapida 74 five-colour press.

The presses are in operation every day of the month and new customers are constantly being added to the books.

A string of awards is evidence of the high standards to which the ISO 9001-accredited company works and its product range embraces labels and brochures, catalogues and flyers, books and packaging.

Aquiles Berggren Comelato, company head and son of the founder, commented: "The market - and customer demands - are continually changing and raising the bar.

So to stay ahead of the curve we must invest in new technology on an continuing basis.

With the new 18,000 sheets per hour Rapida 74 we have taken another major step forward.

We are delighted to be one of the first users of this new Rapida 74 generation in Brazil.

The coating options enable us to provide our customers with an even better service. Request a free brochure from KBA ...

Already we coat more than half of all the jobs we print.".
