World's First Carbon Balanced Press Bound For UK

A KBA product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Oct 26, 2007

Polar Print inspected the latest stages of the manufacturing of what is claimed will be the world's first carbon balanced press - a Rapida 105 six-colour machine from KBA.

Viewing its press under construction at the KBA plant in Dresden (Germany), Polar Print of Leicester (UK) is investing GBP3 million (US$6.1m) in the KBA pressroom technology and the first Rapida will see the company change to alcohol-free printing.

That is another step in its programme of corporate social responsibility and matching KBA's own priority for eco-friendly manufacture and operation, said the company.

David Gask, chairman of Polar and the company's business development associate director, Romona Harron-Harding, discussed environmental matters with KBA's executive vice-president for sheetfed sales, Ralf Sammeck.

Williams Lea, one of Polar Print's clients, was represented on the visit by Claire Deacy.
