KBA Showroom Gains Process Control
Standards
KBA has achieved compliance with and accreditation to ISO 12647-2 process control standards for its customer showroom in Radebeul (Germany).
The Radebeul showroom is now PSO (Process Standards for Offset) accredited, according to the standards issued jointly by FOGRA and the competent state authority, in this case the Print and Media Association for Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt KBA said that the certificate confirms its compliance with process control standards for the production of half-tone colour separations, and proof and production prints in offset lithographic processes

Dutch Printer Extends KBA Production Capacity
Dutch printing house Janssen Pers Rotatiedruk, a longstanding KBA customer based in Gennep, has ordered an extension to the single-width Continent web press it installed in 1999.
The company believes it is one of the first press manufacturers to achieve PSO accreditation for a demonstration centre.
The accreditation procedure at KBA encompassed the entire production flow from image processing to proofing, platemaking and print production.
Tasks included creating the correct colour profiles during image processing and generating proofs for two different types of substrate.
In the printed image it was shown that tonal ranges and chromaticity coordinates were within the specified tolerances.
The accreditation procedure had to be completed within one working day, so time pressures were very much as they are in a real pressroom environment, added KBA.
The company commented that whilst the primary purpose of the customer showroom is print demonstrations, accreditation has a special significance since many printers who carry out print tests there as part of their investment planning are themselves PSO-approved, or are looking for new equipment with which to achieve accreditation.
Print tests in the showroom can now be conducted in an authentic production environment as part of a complete PSO-compliant workflow, added KBA, allowing companies using the facility to gain an initial insight in to the accreditation procedures necessary for their own organisations.
However, the biggest benefit is that the quality parameters of an image printed in the showroom are defined, allowing a usable comparison with the same image printed at the customer's own premises, or those of another press manufacturer.
In association with IPM, KBA added that it offers PSO-compliant process adaptation for new press installations anywhere in Europe. Request free introductory details about products from KBA ...
