Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Feb 25, 2008

Many of the Azerbaijan Republic's daily publications will receive colour print after a new KBA Comet press line is commissioned at The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Baku

Scheduled to go on stream in the Azerbaijan capital city this summer, the single-width press will comprise four four-high towers, two jaw folders and four reelstands and it will produce 64-page, full-colour tabloid pages.

The floor-mounted Comet press, with a claimed output of 75,000 copies per hour will have a 578mm (22.75") cut-off on a web that will be variable in width from 700mm to 1,000mm (27,5" - 39.5"), with 840mm (33") as the standard.

It will be configured with four Megtec AR70A reelstands embedded in a KBA Patras M reel-handling system.

The four full-colour towers will have automatic ink pumping.

Above the 2:3:3 KF 3B folders there will be two superstructures with a single former.

The press line will be controlled from two KBA consoles with a diagnostics PC for remote maintenance.

KBA will also provide a complete training programme for the press crews in Baku.
