Printing Heavy Paper For New Advertising
Concepts

New advertising concepts are being pioneered by German newspaper, The Main-Post, with technology provided by KBA in the form of a Commander CT press.

The Commander is pivotal to the production of the new advertising formats being used by the Main-Post This month the newspaper's readers received their copy in an envelope normally reserved for postal packets

Made of 100 per cent recycled packing paper with a heavy weight, by newspaper standards, of 90gsm, the broadsheet envelope was printed in full-colour with an advertisement that launched a pilot run of a national campaign by retailer C and A for clothing made from organically grown cotton.

A year ago C and A was also the first to use an option offered by the Main-Post, its Zip'n'Buy advertisement that is perforated for removal.

The KBA Commander CT that was commissioned last spring features the Niptronic cylinder bearing system from KBA, which is claimed to allow impression pressure to be set so precisely that it is possible to produce good-quality prints not only on 40gsm, or 45gsm standard newsprint and slightly heavier improved stock but also on bulkier, more awkward substrates, such as brown packing paper.

Main-Post plant manager, Andreas Kunzemann, said: "The Commander's exceptionally versatility and fast convertibility enable us to implement novel concepts from sales professionals, advertisers and, of course, our own designers both cost-effectively and with no loss of quality.

As an engineer I find it intensely satisfying when we can use our knowledge to boost sales by offering our customers new creative tools.

After the UEFA European Football Championship in the summer we'll be adding a second tower, giving us even more colour. Request a free brochure from KBA ...

We can hardly wait.".
