Rapida presses from KBA are claimed to have been instrumental in two Indian printing companies continuing to develop and grow.

Rakesh Press and Gopsons Papers, both of which are in New Delhi, have been two of the companies that have participated in double the level of imported presses from Germany compared to 2007 According to KBA, the new five-colour Rapida 105 press at Rakesh Press is the third sheetfed offset press from KBA to have been installed at the company

Founded in 1950, the company is said to be Delhi's leading magazine printer and also handles a range of commercial products for multi-national groups.

Over the past 20 years, Rakesh Press has specialised particularly on printing greetings cards and today exports a large pro-portion of its production to customers as far afield as Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and South America.

In 2006, Rakesh Press received a silver medal in the 'own promotion' category at the SAPPI printers of the year awards.

Gopsons Papers has developed in to one of the leading book printers in India, said KBA and it is also involved in security printing and stationery products.

The four-colour Rapida 105 universal, which entered operation at Gopsons Papers was already the eighth KBA sheetfed offset press installed by the company.

Over the past six years, Gopsons has taken delivery of a five-colour Rapida 74, two further four-colour Rapida 105s and a Rapida 105 in a five-colour configuration.

All presses are equipped with UV dryers and are networked to the pre-press department via CIP3.

Building upon its success with medium format and half-format presses, Gopsons Papers is now planning to move up in to large-format sheetfed offset operation.

The investment in a Rapida 130 is expected to give a boost to productivity in book production, added KBA.

The two printers have also just collaborated with KBA and its Indian sheetfed offset sales partner Indo-Polygraph Machinery to present the latest Rapida presses at some open house events.

KBA sales director, Dietmar Heyduck, said that KBA had established a nationwide service and consulting presence on the Indian market, whilst Aditya Surana, the managing director of Indo-Polygraph, commented that KBA was one of the major suppliers of printing technology to India.

The two events were each attended by 60 guests from amongst India's printers.

Presentations of new technology, print demonstrations and factory tours were staged.
