German Press Manufacturer Is A Top US Innovator
German-based press manufacturer, KBA, has been named amongst the top 10 innovating companies in the USA.
That is according to the US Patent Board's Heavy Industrial Equipment Patent Scorecard published in The Wall Street Journal, which placed KBA ninth.
KBA is in the leading innovating businesses along with such companies as Caterpillar, Deere and Schindler.
One hundred and nine companies are listed by the Patent Board.
In 2007 the German Patent and Trademark Office published 203 KBA patent applications, which meant that the press manufacturer ranks 22nd in Germany's overall patent application statistics, not far behind the country's car manufacturers, such as Audi in 13th place with 419 applications.
In 2006 KBA's recorded 174 patents , whilst it registered 200 in 2005 and 193 in 2004.
Founded in 1968 as a research institution, The Patent Board regularly issues rankings for global companies in 17 industry sectors, with each company's portfolio measured on its technical strength, quantity, science and research strength, as well as the speed at which patents become assets.
