A KBA product story

Roland Kastner (50), the managing director of KBA Complete, an independent consultancy established by KBA and Hiflex shortly before Drupa, has suddenly and unexpectedly died.

KBA said that KBA Complete and its allied enterprises, which had a successful debut at Drupa 2008 , have lost a universally admired colleague, the print media industry an acknowledged expert on systems networking and innovation.

A successor will be appointed shortly.

A qualified computer scientist with 15 years' experience in the field, Kastner held a number of executive positions in the printing industry before applying his expertise in process optimisation and restructuring, his knowledge and industry contacts to become an independent consultant and managing partner of Hiflex Streamlining in 2001.

He also provided advice on preparing print providers for internal and external ratings.

In 2003 Roland Kastner established ARGE AR+D, a business consortium specialising in RFID for printing plants and a networking group, Pegasus.

Those alliances of providers and business consultants to the printing industry promote collaboration amongst scientists, providers of systems and components and manufacturers of plant and machinery, as a means of advancing technological projects in the industry and developments in process optimisation.
