KBA launches compact wet offset press
KBA has launched a compact wet offset press, the Commander CT, at the Main-Post newspaper in Wurzburg, Germany.
Benefits of the compact design are: minimised fan-out (comparable to a satellite press), a big drop in production waste and superior print quality.
Main-Post media group also placed a second 58-tonne Commander CT tower atop the existing one in July.
This has enabled production capacity to be increased in a minimum of space, without the expense of extending the press hall and disrupting daily production.
With two reelstands, the 9m-high press line will be able to print 32 full-colour broadsheet pages or 64 tabloid pages, and includes fully automatic plate changing.
Since fan-out is no longer an issue, KBA also offers a triple-wide version of the CT, with a web width of 2,100mm.
The film inking units on the CT have three forme rollers, which reduce ink mist and thus give optimum print quality, even in problematic images and on difficult substrates.
RollerTronic automatic roller locks and NipTronic bearings also enhance quality while reducing manual input.
