The 12th Cortina press line from KBA will soon be commissioned at M DuMont Schauberg in Cologne, Germany.

The latest deal for KBA's waterless offset Cortina presses was agreed with Germany's Rheinische Post in Dusseldorf, just before the Centre d'Impression Edipresse Lausanne in Bussigny, Switzerland, staged the fourth Cortina user workshop.

According to KBA, after four years of coldset newspaper production and two years of heatset semi-commercial production with the Cortina, the user workshops have become a venue for comparing notes on choosing the right consumables and the latest advances in technology and press design, backed by tests and documentation.

Discussion is founded on practical applications, embracing economic and technical issues such as energy consumption, production waste, environmental credentials, make-ready, utilisation levels, maintenance frequency, plate service life, data preparation and plate making.

Discussions are also held to explore achievable image quality on different substrates, the behaviour of inks and blankets and various approaches for enhancing performance.
