German publisher installs Cortina press

German newspaper publisher M DuMont Schauberg (MDS) in Cologne has installed a six-wide KBA Cortina press.

Engineered for a maximum web width of 1,890mm (74.4in) and having automatic plate changers, the Cortina 6/2 prints MDS's in-house titles and other products at a claimed speed of 80,000 full-colour copies per hour, with a possible maximum of 48 pages in the Berliner format and 96 pages tabloid.

The investment package at MDS also includes new plate-making equipment, with a Kodak Marks-3-zet, Nela, mailroom technology from Ferag, as well as buildings and infrastructure.
