New Film Is Alternative To Dry Mounting

A Lamount product story

A new linerless, heatseal mounting adhesive has been added to the Lamount e-commerce website.

A new linerless, heatseal mounting adhesive has been added to the Lamount e-commerce website.

According to Lamount, Giclee Canvas Mounting Film can be considered as an alternative to dry mounting film (with its tacky adhesive surfaces needing to be protected by twin release papers).

The company added that Giclee Canvas has already found a niche in bonding inkjet printed Canvas Art to rigid boards prior to framing with 'floater mouldings', giving a more classic look to the current trend of gallery wraps.

However, the product is also claimed to be a versatile and commercially attractive material having other alternative uses.

It is manufactured by extrusion coating co-polymer adhesive to both sides of a thin polyester film.

The adhesive surface is dry to the touch for easy handling and the polyester film gives strength and stability, plus a barrier to migratory chemicals, found in some boards, which can stain graphics or alter colours, said Lamount.

The finished product is presently available in self wound roll format, potentially in widths up to 1,575mm, but could be supplied in sheets as required.

In combination with the range of linerless, UV vinyl heat activated over-laminating films, or thermal encapsulation films offered on the website, users can see the options available for the laminating and mounting of graphics to boards and feasibly in one pass, added the company.

The adhesives have the 'superstick' quality enabling mounting to difficult surfaces, for example wet prints and MDF.

Also, as the materials are 'weather proofed' they can be considered for exterior signage and displays.

Giclee Canvas Mounting Film is also claimed by Lamount to be cost competitive with standard cold mounting adhesives.
