The 300 Processor series in-line punching and perforating system for high-speed digital printers will be introduced by Lasermax Roll Systems at Drupa 2008.

The 300 Processor series includes models that operate before or after the printer to punch tractor holes, cross perforations, vertical perforations, or custom punching patterns Lasermax said that with digital colour printing, customers will be able to purchase plain paper stock for all of their jobs and can perform any required punching or perforating at the time of printing

Buying unconverted paper and processing in-line can result in paper savings, which is important for service bureaux that stock pre-printed rolls for different customers.

The company added that the availability of digital colour printing will also accelerate the migration of standard statements in to trans-promotional applications, which can include personalised marketing offers, reply forms and coupons.

The 300 Processor's perforating capability will play an important role in maintaining the best possible appearance of the final trans-promotional statement.

Perforations are created only where needed and additional pages in the statement will not have excessive perforations, it is claimed.

Lasermax commented that the 300 Processors currently includes four standard models, with claimed capabilities including tractor hole punching, file hole punching, fanfold cross perforating and cross and vertical perforating.

Tractor holes or perforations in fixed intervals are created before the printer, whilst perforating for payment slips and coupons is undertaken after the printer.

All models utilise a controlled paper in-feed and out-feed section to maintain registration of the web, added the company.

Hans Eliasson, vice president of engineering at Lasermax Roll Systems, said: "At Drupa 2008, we expect continued momentum for roll-fed digital colour printing technology.

As these printers improve and become more accepted, we expect an increased demand in the market for in-line paper processing systems and that will be driven by an expectation from our customers to eliminate their use of offset printed and processed forms.".
