Digital Inkjet VDP Printer Debuts At Labelexpo

A Labelexpo product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 19, 2007

The claimed precision and versatility of Atlantic Zeiser's Omega 36/36i digital inkjet printer featuring drop-on-demand array jet technology will be demonstrated at Labelexpo.

On Atlantic Zeiser's stand at the show that runs from September 26 - 29 (hall 6, stand F20), the new printer will show its ability to produce variable data printing on a variety of substrates, including paper and carton, as well as such specialised materials as aluminum, polymer foils and plastics.

The company said that the light weight and compact size of the Omega 36/36i digital inkjet printer enables integration in to most existing equipment.

The Omega36/36i can be installed on web or sheet-fed applications and its claimed 360 dots per inch (dpi) print resolution, in combination with Atlantic Zeiser's proprietary inks, ensures clear and crisp printing of very small characters and produces bar codes with readability and clarity.

At Labelexpo, Atlantic Zeiser will also debut the Tagline, RFID smart label personalisation system that is said to simplify quality control and encoding of RFID tags in the ticket and label process.

Tagline is claimed to simultaneously handle RFID tag encoding and optical OCR and bar code marking.

The encoding module utilises eight independent high frequency chip encoding units to perform encoding in a read and write cycle.

The process verifies that information sent to a tag is correctly stored and enables accurate production of up to 40,000 labels an hour, added Atlantic Zeiser.

The labels can be printed with variable data (numbers or barcodes) or with additional security features, without any reduction in production in speed, it is claimed.

The company commented that the system has been developed specifically for encoding, marking and selecting RFID tags (or transponders) and that it is claimed to guarantee 100 per cent verification.

In Atlantic Zeiser's opinion, Tagline is suitable for smart tickets and smart labels that conform to the strict quality and accuracy specifications of the pharmaceutical sector, or by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Verified print or RFID encoding is mandatory in industries where accurate and efficient product labelling is paramount to eliminate health risks or counterfeiting.

The company said it is offering a series of UV-curable or solvent-based inks, formulated for specific application.

Dr Hans Wyssmann, Atlantic Zeiser's vice president of marketing, explained: "We have many years of experience as a leading innovator and developer in personalisation and encoding systems for the printing industry.

Labelexpo offers an ideal platform to present our newest procuts to the global label production market.".
