The Labelexpo exhibition will provide the platform for the newest press in the Edale range, the Gamma, which is claimed to be a high-end flexographic printing and converting system.

It is said by Edale to have a printhead design that enables a complete colour change in under two minutes Visitors to the Edale stand - 7L105 - will also see the European launch of what is described as Edale's most flexible converting machine, the Lambda

According to Edale, the Lambda offers a plug and play, full servo-driven system, which also offers the ability for future upgrades through the incorporation of additional converting, printing or laminating modules to suit additional value-added applications.

The Lambda to be shown at Labelexpo will be configured as an RFID system with a multi-layer process capability, matching up webs to registration and inserting an RFID tag that will be supplied by Tamarack.

Each Lambda is bespoke built, with typical applications including work in the RFID insertion, booklet insertion, security applications, multi-layer, scratch-off, automotive, medical and research and development markets.

The Lambda Coater, one of which is already in operation in Europe, has also been of particular interest to label and packaging converters, said Edale.

Complementing the Lambda will be the Alpha, with its 2.5 square metre footprint.

The Alpha will be configured with a four-colour water-based press with a 250mm web width producing a food packaging label.

Over 130 Alphas have now been sold worldwide with many printers installing multiple machines, added the company.

The Alpha is said to appeal to a range of printers that could be looking to download their singe-colour up to five-colour work from larger, more expensive, modular presses, perhaps new start-up companies, or those seeking diversification from offset printing.
