The Labelexpo Europe show will see EyeC exhibit its Proofrunner, in-line print inspection system for the first time in hall 6, on stand 6J35.

The Proofrunner is an in-line quality control system for narrow web printing presses and rewinders and it is claimed to provide 100 per cent inspection of production by checking every item against what is described as a 'golden image' that might otherwise be assumed to be correct EyeC claimed that the Proofrunner checks every label against the customer's proof, whether that is in printed, scanned or electronic format

That is claimed to be an advantage since such errors as version mix-ups, registration errors, or even wrong plates would not be found using the golden image principle.

Instead, only random print defects, such as hickies, stains and blocked screens, would be identified, according to EyeC.

With its claimed high resolution tri-linear colour line-scan camera, the Proofrunner is said to provide a 0.01" (0.25mm) pixel footprint, allowing for a 0.02" (0.5mm) minimum defect size on a typical 16-inch (410mm) web.

On a 16-inch (410mm) press or rewinder, users can run the Proofrunner in excess of 130 metres per minute depending on the required defect resolution.

EyeC added that Proofrunner's optics mean that the overall size of the Proofrunner is kept to a minimum and does not get in the way of press operations.

Other products from EyeC on display during Labelexpo will include the Proofiler off-line print inspection systems, Proofiler Graphics for graphical file comparison, Braille inspection and 1D and 2D barcode verification.
