Ipex proved to be a major business generator for the Centre for Industrial Collaboration (CIC) of Leeds University in Digital Print (UK).

Almost 200 new business leads were received following the centre's first appearance at the show.

The newly-established CIC, based at the University of Leeds' Department of Colour and Polymer Chemistry, attracted interest from major manufacturers and print firms for its first Ipex appearance, with particular focus on its research and development in to novel printing technologies for brand protection and security purposes, said CIC.

The CIC team also dealt with almost 100 enquiries for its Concept of Colour Master course, launched with Leeds College of Technology.

The colour management course, which starts in September, has been designed to become an industry benchmark, assuring businesses that those with the qualification are able to deliver on their colour promise, it claimed.

Digital Print CIC commercial manager Dave Williams commented: "We're delighted with the response to our first Ipex appearance.

From the almost 200 inquiries received, we already have some 20 projects under way and a further 40 being developed.

There is a clear will in the industry to learn more about the work of the CIC and how we can help print firms meet their commercial objectives.".
