Throughput Boosting Software Gift For PIA/GATF
Alterio Associates, the North American distributor for Lithotechnics of Sydney (Australia) has demonstrated and donated a copy of Metrix 1.5 to the executive staff at PIA/GATF headquarters in the USA.
Version 2.0 incorporates now has the ability to automatically calculate multi-signature bound jobs, directly from JDF or operator input, said the company.
Metrix 2.0 extends job planning automation to the commercial market and marks a change in the way the printing industry plans and imposes work, believes Lithotechnics.
Metrix handles all work automatically and transforms the laborious layout planning process in to a quick and easy step in the print production workflow, it is claimed.
Rohan Holt, Lithotechnics founder, said: "Metrix is unlike any job planning system on the market.
We designed Metrix with clear goals - ease of use was of paramount importance.
Secondly, we wanted to facilitate just-in-time production decisions, so we designed editing to be dynamic and intelligent." Holt continued: "We tackled the most difficult type of work - ganging - first, because we knew it would be a rock-solid foundation for the future.
Now, with book work added, Metrix users will benefit from the best of both worlds." The company added that customers who have seen the alpha version of Metrix 2.0 have described it as ground-breaking in the way it handles all types of planning and imposition.
Moreover, it has the ability to import JDF files, which describe complete publications from enabled MIS systems.
Metrix is claimed to complete the productivity loop by exporting the layout in JDF format, including all PDF content, press sheet geometry and marks, to JDF-enabled workflows and JDF-enabled RIPs, as well as to JDF and CIP3 capable finishing equipment.
