Linx Printing Technologies will launch its latest continuous inkjet printer, the Linx 6900 at the Total 2007 exhibition The company claimed that the Linx 6900 is suitable for a range of product coding needs, thanks to its combination of reliability, ease of use and 'intelligence'

The Linx 6900 is said to be a coder that can print up to five lines of text, graphics and barcodes at single printed line speeds of up to 8.4 metres per second.

Its key features include a colour user interface with WYSIWYG display and menu system, low-maintenance operation and an attractive curved appearance.

Superseding Linx's successful 6800 model, the printer incorporates a number of new and enhanced features that are the result of continuing consultation with customers about their precise coding needs.

Simon Powell, marketing manager at Linx, said: "With a shopping list of requirements that includes maximum uptime, long-term reliability, low cost of ownership and excellent print quality at high speeds, manufacturers are often looking for the perfect partner when it comes to choosing a coder.

The Linx 6900 is said to be easy for operators to use, durable to withstand harsh production environments, future-proofed with five line coding and networking capability and it also looks great." The colour user interface incorporates a navigable menu system for ease of message set-up and preview, thus minimising coding errors, claimed Linx.

Messages can be created and edited whilst the ink jet is running to save valuable production time.

Weighing 21kg, with no hard wiring and plug-in connections - including optional parallel I/O and Ethernet - the portable printer is transferable between lines and can be started at the touch of a button, added the company.

The curved enclosure doubles as a durable, protective shell with minimal dirt traps, making it suitable for environments where hygiene is paramount.

The printer is IP55-rated for washdowns to ensure ease of cleaning, with an optional IP65 rating for dusty production environments requiring an extra level of protection.

Linx claimed that low maintenance and trouble-free start-ups are assured thanks to the Linx 6900's full printhead autoflush on every shutdown.

Ink and solvent usage is said to be mess-free, with clear on-screen information to help avoid mistakes.

Additional features include a message store of over 1,000 messages, preset and user-defined date, time and shift code formats and on-board logo creation.

Also on the Linx stand will be two Linx 4900 continuous printers that are claimed to be capable of printing up to two lines of text and logos at production line speeds of up to 6.25 metres per second.

They can print on to virtually any material thanks to the range of inks available, at Total the Linx 4900s will be using Linx's yellow pigmented ink 1039, designed to give good contrast on a range of differently coloured materials and Linx black plastic-adherent ink 1014, printing on to plastics, said the company.

The Linx 500SL uses steered-beam technology to produce permanent results even on very high speed lines, such as label coding applications in the bottling industry and hard to mark applications.

Also on display will be other models from Linx's range of scribing laser coders.

The IJ600 twinhead outer case coder prints graphics, text and barcodes on bags, boxes, packaging and containers.

The twinheads enable printing on two sides simultaneously and at any angle and the pressurised ink system provides consistent results whatever the head orientation, added Linx.
