Thermal inkjet printer suits smaller operations
Linx Printing Technologies has launched the IJ200 thermal inkjet printer, developed specifically for large character marking applications.
The company said that the printer will provide smaller manufacturers with a cost-effective alternative to the labelling of secondary packaging.
Linx added that the IJ200 provides a low cost of ownership due to reduced maintenance and downtime, reliability and ease of operation.
By utilising thermal inkjet technology in a disposable cartridge format, the IJ200 is claimed to provide clean, crisp text and graphics as well as reliable linear and 2D barcodes.
With a claimed resolution of up to 600dpi and throughput speeds of up to 120m/min, the IJ200 can print directly onto boxes or cartons used for secondary packaging.
According to Linx, this makes for a cost-effective, trouble-free alternative to label printing that is particularly suited to smaller operations.
Printer cartridges contain the ink system and the printhead.
This means that they are disposable and there is also no need to buy ribbons or labels.
The system offers further flexibility because of the range of inks and spot colours available.
Thermal inkjet inks are claimed to be environmentally friendly and the cartridge-based system means that change-overs can be competed without the danger of ink spills.
The IJ200 supports up to two 50mm printhead assemblies for greater printing flexibility.
The printer has the capability to print a single image as high as 100mm or to print in two locations on the same or different faces of the packaging.
The printer benefits from being operational within 50sec of being switched on.
Thousands of messages can be stored on the IJ200, while networking capabilities allow operators to call up messages from elsewhere.
