Leading independent digital ink jet ink and media manufacturer, Lyson will be exhibiting its new range of Campaign and Sublimation HD inks for the first time on the continent at Drupa 2004.

Lyson subsidiary, Tiara Systems, will also be introducing a new grand format printer to the European market - the company's first machine specifically designed for that sector.

Campaign ink is a low cost, grand format pigment ink which has been developed to meet market demand for inks that suit the short-cycle outdoor display sector that is based on constantly interchangeable advertising campaigns, where there is less need for long-life solvent inks, that means ink manufacturing costs are lower.

With the launch of Campaign Lyson is now passing the lower costs of production onto the customer, it said.

The ink comes in a variety of bright and intense colours, and can print onto most uncoated substrates suitable for grand format printing, such as PVC, vinyl and scrim banner.

It is available for use with Vutek, Nur and Scitex printers and it is also compatible with a wide range of new machines that use Xaar, Spectra and Hitachi printheads.

There is also a new addition to the sublimation product range, Sublimation High Density (HD) Ink.

Developed in response to customer requests for deep velvet black, the ink has been designed to maintain flow and colour gamut, even at increased speeds.

It has a new formulation that produces rich, deep colour and offers an excellent transfer yield from paper to substrate, as well as consistently even ink coverage and improved drying time, said the company.

"Both Lyson and Tiara Systems have been very successful in the European market over the past four years.

We see this year's Drupa as an opportunity to reinforce our position as one of the leading third party inkjet ink and media suppliers in the market," said Simon Guest, Lyson's marketing manager.

Lyson will also be exhibiting the Continuous Ink System (CIS) for its Photochrome pigment ink jet ink range for use with the Epson 7600 and 9600 wide format printers.

The Lyson CIS for Photochrome ink enables customers to run a wide-format printer directly from one-litre bulk ink bottles, offering significant cost saving and improved efficiency.

The inks offer advantages over standard pigment inks in terms of a claimed wide colour gamut and extended fade resistance.

Tiara Systems is also now launching its technology for the grand format sector.

The new printer has been developed to offer the market a competitively priced system for printing widths of 3.4 metres at a speed of 70 square metres per hour.

The new printer provides wide gamut printing with up to three years image longevity.

It offers a maximum resolution of 370dpi and print speeds of up to 28 square metres per hour (six pass), 42 sq.

m.

per hour (four pass) and 70 sq.

m.

per hour (two pass).

It has 24 XJ128 print heads from Xaar, and uses CMYK solvent ink in five litre bottles.

The Lyson and Tiara Systems stand at Drupa will be in Hall 7 - C31.
