City Printing operates a full suite of PC and MAC based pre-press systems, scanners and image setters in its pre-press department.
It is no stranger to working with digital workflows, and so was able to easily come up to speed with the DC5252's Command workstation, which processes and handles all of the digital workflow to the print engine.
"One of the most common difficulties we experience is the varied amount of digital files that our customers supply, but the DC5252 doesn't seem to care what file formats it receives.
It seems to be able to handle everything we throw at it.
It really is an incredibly versatile machine.
Xerox is correct when it says that some 70% of digitally produced work produced in the UK falls below 1500 copies.
We are not unlike any other digital printer in this respect and our customers are looking for quickly produced, short run work with a fast turnaround.
We've been running the machine at full pelt since installation, and the quality we are getting from the machine is first class," Peters commented.
The training, back up and support was good, he said and the company was already seeing further applications for its customers that it had not originally conceived.
With a printing speed of 52 pages per minute, the Docucolor 5252 has many functional advantages over other competitive entry-level production colour systems.
It is ideal for short-run and variable data printing, where speed, quality and the addition of stock flexibility are all requirements, believes Litho Supplies.
Litho Supplies' deputy sales director Mike Ryan said: "The DC5252 is targeted at printing companies that are looking to expand their customer service offerings, and City Printing is a perfect example.
