At Fespa Digital Printing 2006, Matan Digital Printers will launch the Matan Spot36, its newest printer for wayfinding and traffic signage and windows graphics Matan will also present its new Spotboard technology as implemented on the Matan Springpro

The Matan stand - C725 in hall 8 - will feature two printers representing the Matan thermal transfer product line for on-demand digital production in a range of applications.

The Spot36 digital printer is a wider format implementation of the best features and qualities of the Matan Spring, said the company.

It is equipped with durable print heads, which enable non-stop printing at a high speed, added Matan.

The machine shares the same industrial design of the Matan Spring, whilst maintaining wha is described as a contemporary high-tech look.

It can print up to two colours in one pass in up to a claimed 400 dots per inch (dpi) x 1,200dpi resolution.

Media width is up to 930mm and printing width is up to 924mm.

Ribbons for the printer include a spectrum of spots, special traffic red, blue and green, shiny metallic gold and silver, etched and opaque white.

The Spot36 is also said to support a range of media, including reflective traffic media.

The Springpro is said to offer a resolution of up to 400dpi x 1,600dpi at up to 274 linear metres per hour.

Other features include variable data, such as numbering and bar-coding.

Both printers utilise Matan's new Spotboard technology, which is an electronic board that is said to maximise the print quality of spot colours and combinations of process colours and spots by enabling individual control over the energy levels of each printing station separately.

The Spotboard offers automatic energy levelling compensation across the width of the print, enhancing print quality for uniform areas.

The Spotboard uses USB2 communication between the printer and the computer, offering maximum flexibility and eliminating the need for a dedicated PC for the printer, said Matan.
