Thermal Transfer Print Quality Improvements
Matan Digital Printers has released its Spotboard, enabling features for its thermal transfer digital printers, Matan Springpro and the new Matan Spot36.
The third generation of the Matan Spring is said to be the fruit of an extensive development process, resulting in the creation of proprietary printhead technology designed specifically for the Matan Spring product line.
The new printheads and the related software are said to improve the overall performance of the Spring printing system.
Within the same system specifications, Matan said there is a leap forward in print quality and printing speeds.

New Digital Printer for Wayfinding, Traffic Signage and Windows Graphics. Matan Digital Printers present the Matan Spot36 for the first time in the USA at SGIA 06.
Improved quality parameters include enhanced trapping results, more vivid colours with higher gloss level and smoother tints.
Productivity may increase up to 300 per cent since desired quality can be achieved in faster print modes, added the company.
In addition, identifying the appropriate print parameters is much faster and easier, according to Matan.
The new SprinG3 is also said to be able to print with much broader media versatility, allowing printing on many types of paper, coarse-surfaced media and exotic substrates, such as diamond grade reflective sheeting, for instance.
Earlier this year Matan released the Spotboard electronic card, which is now standard in all SprinG3 machines.
In addition to enabling individual control over the energy level of each printing station it offers plug and play USB connectivity to any computer including laptops, said the company.
One of the options for the new Matan SprinG3 is the enhanced Flex-Print system, enabling highly accurate digital hot-stamping on pre-printed media rolls from any print platform, analogue or digital, added Matan.
This automatic optical registration system allows overprinting at a a claimed accuracy rate of 0.1 mm (0.004").
Together with Matan's Variprint variable data software option, that is said to offer an ideal personalisation system for short-run, high durability applications, work requiring special colours such, as metallic gold and silver, opaque whites and other special spot colours.
Hanan Yosefi, the president and chief executive officer of Matan, said: "These impressive innovations, together with the proprietary Matan Spotboard technology, represent a major evolution to new industrial standards for the Matan Spring product line.
Printers will be able to produce an even wider variety of specialised, demanding applications, unanswered by any analogue or other digital printing system." He continued: "We invite printers to take a look at the Matan SprinG3 in one of the upcoming trade events, or request a personalised demonstration at their own site in the USA with our Mobile Spring demonstration centre.
I believe they are in for a pleasant surprise." Matan said that it will also shortly announce its worldwide upgrade plan, so that existing Spring users will be able to have access to the new SprinG3 advantages.
The SprinG3 will be exhibited at Labelexpo Americas by Matan's local distributor in Chicago, Graphic Marking Systems, on stand 5325.
Later in the same month Matan will exhibit the SprinG3 on its stand - 3201 - at SGIA '06 in Las Vegas.
