Super-Wide Format UV Digital Printer Drupa Debut
Matan Digital Printers will use Drupa 2008 to promote its Barak5 super-wide format, UV hybrid digital printer.
Claimed to operate at a printing speed of 300 square metres per hour, whilst maintaining its versatility and high print quality.
Matan added that in doing so no ink switching is needed, which saves production time as well as improving ink consumption.
Demonstrations of the Barak printer range will be staged throughout Drupa.
Using UV-curable inks and available in five-metre and 3.5 metre widths and said to be easy to operate, whilst providing a low total cost of ownership, the Barak5 also has 32 printheads with drop sizes starting at 30 picoliter, whilst providing an extended colour gamut.
The printer's low ink consumption allows for coverage of up to 180 square metres per litre (1,940 square feet per litre).
The Barak 5 is also claimed to provide a throughput of 300 square metres per hour (3,200 square feet per hour).
The system is said to be the only five-metre wide UV, hybrid printer on the market that handles flexible and rigid materials, either coated or uncoated.
Its optional multi-roll feature enables the printer to produce work on up to three rolls simultaneously.
In addition, the printer can run at various printing modes from POP quality to billboards, for example.
The machine now features a multi-function vacuum table, suitable for most substrates and can switch to mesh with virtually no set-up time thanks to a pneumatic mechanism.
Along with a newly implemented motorised head carriage elevating system the new features enable users to achieve higher productivity, as well as enhanced printing quality on a variety media types, together with easy handling of mesh applications.
A new feeder motor for up to five-metre media width is implemented on the feeder rollers for easier double side printing applications.
The Barak printer range is said to use UV inks that minimise site preparation requirements, ventilation and disposal.
Barak users can also print on environmentally-friendly recyclable media, such as polyethylene (PE).
The system is also said to offer minimal substrate waste of 35cm during loading.
Hanan Yosefi, the president and chief executive officer of Matan Digital Printers, said: "We are constantly seeking new ways of improving its products and meet the most demanding customers' requirements.
The new Barak 5 allows users to improve productivity and the overall performance of their print shop, whilst enhancing quality for their customers.".
