Markzware, the developer of quality control for digital files used in the global graphic arts and printing industries has launched Flightcheck Studio for Adobe Indesign CS and CS2.

Flightcheck Studio v1.3 is claimed to be a new concept in quality control with real-time examination and repair of documents as users create them.

Flightcheck Studio provides an 'in-flight' pre-flighting tool that the company said is capable of detecting virtually any problem within a digital document, based on user-defined specifications.

Flightcheck Studio's main purpose is to catch mistakes in a document whilst it is being created.

The software is claimed to be a suitable companion to Indesign's 'package' feature working in real time to find and correct design problems whilst the document is being created.

As users create a document, with just one click Flightcheck Studio immediately presents the opportunity to locate and quickly fix any potential problem.

It functions similarly to the way a spell checker works.

When a word is misspelled a a spell checker automatically highlights the error and allows the user to individually or globally correct it straightaway.

Flightcheck Studio functions in the same way.

It will check documents against a pre-defined specification.

When a deviation from the specification is detected, the software immediately alerts users to the problem and will allow them to repair the document problems selected.

The items Flightcheck Studio is said to be capable of examining are page size, layout, colour space, fonts, style sheets, image types and image resolution, for instance.

Production managers can even set up a common specification to share with other designers.

As an example, a project manager can create a specification for a publication and distribute the specification to all the designers working on the job.

That ensures all the designers will follow the same design parameters.

It is the second in a series of Flightcheck Studio products and is an Indesign Plugin that supports Indesign CS and CS2 running on Apple Macintosh OS X 10.2 up to 10.4 (Tiger).
