Markztools 6 is a document insurance tool for QuarkXPress, which can convert higher versions to lower versions, salvage bad files and maintain document integrity, said Markzware.

The utility takes additional steps of preventing files from going bad, thus making it a document insurance policy to protect the security of important jobs, added the company.

Markztools is claimed to salvage or repair corrupted document files, as well as open higher version documents, such as opening QuarkXPress 6.1/6.5 documents whilst inside a QuarkXPress 5.x or below.

One feature included in Markztools is the conversion of Quark 6 documents directly to Quark 4 documents without the need to have Quark 5 loaded.

In addition, the software is said to prevent bad documents from occurring in the first place through the use of a special temp file, whilst the recovery of text data from many badly damaged or corrupted documents is also possible.

The conversion of picture previews to Gray allows users to archive Quark documents more easily by reducing the size of the document, whilst user's links are still intact.

That means that when users are ready to work on the live job again, they do an update in Quark, added Markzware.

Users also have the ability to retain or assign a colour label applied to a document in the finder.
