EFTA (European Flexographic Technical Association) has given MetalFX the gold award for Outstanding Technical Innovation at the EFTA Print Awards 2004.

The company was also given the special glass vase for Achievement of the Year.

The EFTA Print Awards offers recognition of companies' achievements and degree of excellence in flexo in 2003.

MetalFX (MFX) managing director Andrew Ainge said: "We are delighted to receive such a prestigious award and to have the unique benefits that MetalFX offers the industry recognised." MetalFX and Flexo MetalFX is a patented technology that is licensed out to printers and design agencies.

It offers the possibility to print millions of metallic colours in one run of a five-colour press.

The company said it opens up an entirely new colour spectrum, raising the standard of creativity in the printing of labels and packaging and gives MFX approved printers a point of difference over their competitors.

Special effects, such as HoloFX and LiteFX, are also possible.

In November 2003, MetalFX picked up the Innovation of the Year title at the National Business Awards.

Andrew Ainge will be a guest speaker at the awards' Regional Success Showcase at Rudding Park, Harrogate (UK) on April 20.
