Metallic Colour System Success With US Printer

A MetalFX Technology product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Sep 19, 2007

MetalFX's metallic colour system using the G7 colour guidelines has provide a success for commercial printer Integrity Graphics in Windsor, Conneticut (USA).

The G7 methodology is said to be the first specification designed to reliably and efficiently match the visual appearance of multiple devices by defining gray balance and neutral print density curves instead of the traditional method of measuring dot gain for each colour, said MetalFX.

According to Gerry Gerlach, Integrity Graphics' colour manager: "To test MetalFX under G7 conditions, we used a standard set of process inks to overprint on the MetalFX Gold and Silvercoat inks.

The result was stunning." Integrity Graphics' president, Joseph La Valla, added: "We have had great results with MetalFX and our ability to use the new technology under G7 conditions ensures that our clients can realise even more exciting effects on their printed products.

We are pleased to once again lead by introducing new concepts in printing." MetalFX, a Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corporation subsiadiart, is a process and spot metallic colour system that is claimed to allow millions of metallic colours to be printed by adding only one base silver ink to the usual CMYK mix.
