New Press Prints Commercial Jobs During Training
Gateshead (UK) NW Printers has its 18,000 sheets per hour MAN Roland R500 press up and running and already working a double-day shift.
It will provide additional capacity.
Graphic Repro director, Paul Bassford, said: "We needed to increase our print capacity.
The 305 is running for 16-hours per day, and, because of our location, we are not able to move to full 24-hour production, so the only real option was to add another press.
We have known for some time that by running our two-colour work on a five-colour machine that we are not really making the best use of press time, so it makes sense to bring in a two-colour press specifically for that work, freeing up time on the five-colour machine." Bassford continued to say that the new machine will also mean that the company can keep on growing as a business.
"It is easy to sit back and do nothing when the press is full, but for the business to keep expanding we need to add the right equipment at the right time," he added.
The MAN Roland R200 series of compact B2-format presses have a number of automated features, including automatic blanket washing, as well as features normally only found on larger machines, such as double diameter impression cylinders, said MAN Roland.
The R200 is available in two-colour, four-colour, and five-colour versions.
Claimed to be capable of printing at up to 13,000 sheets per hour (sph), R200 presses can handle sheet sizes up to 520mm x 740mm, in thicknesses from 0.04mm to 0.8mm, making it suitable for printers producing folders and packaging materials, as well as a full range of general commercial print.
