New Press Prints Commercial Jobs During Training
Gateshead (UK) NW Printers has its 18,000 sheets per hour MAN Roland R500 press up and running and already working a double-day shift.
The second folder will be added to the company's existing MAN Roland Uniset 75 web press, which has the ability to print up to 96-pages in full colour, with a maximum output speed of 75,000 copies per hour, said MAN Roland.
"This additional equipment will allow us to maximise utilisation of our existing printing towers," said Mortons Print Managing Director Ian Fisher.
"It will give us a greater flexibility and it will also provide us with resilience." Fisher added: "This expansion will allow us to run two different jobs at the same time on our existing press configuration, meaning that we are able to make best use of all available towers.
Whilst some jobs take all six towers, others do not and this latest investment will allow us to maximise our available print time." He explained: "We are seeing growth outside of our traditional regional publications market.
There has been a continuous stream of new launches in weekly, fortnightly and monthly publications from existing and new customers alike and publishers are increasingly willing to experiment and try out new ideas.
They choose Mortons for their print service because we are there to help guide them through the entire print and production process, providing assistance in bringing their ideas to fruition." Mortons of Horncastle employs over 200 people and in 1968 it was the first newspaper company in Lincolnshire to switch to printing web-offset from letterpress.
