MAN Roland Hosts Environmental Policy Meeting
Environmental policy for printers will be the focus of a breakfast meeting on November 15 at MAN Roland's UK headquarters in Mitcham, Surrey.
MAN Roland said that the workshop will cover all of the key areas regarding a printing company's environmental policy, including why a print business should have such a policy, as well as the requirements of ISO14001.
Guidance on how printers could write an environmental policy and its implementation will also be provided.
The event is to be staged in association with Printlondon, a partnership between the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) and the London Development Agency (LDA) which is aimed at supporting the development of the UK capitol's printing industry.
Attendance at the seminar is free for pre-registered printing companies within the 33 London boroughs.
Chris Patefield of Printlondon, commented: "Whilst the briefing already has a detailed agenda, we also see this as a networking opportunity for the printers of south London, which is possibly something that can grow in to a local networking group, with regular workshops on various important topics.
Environmental issues represent an important topic for all printers at the moment and, therefore, they provide an ideal subject for this first gathering.
He added: "Following discussions with the LDA, which has the aim of keeping manufacturing within London, funding was made available to the printing and publishing sector, which is recognised as the largest single manufacturing sector within London's boroughs.
Printlondon, working closely with the BPIF, was created earlier this year to distribute those funds and we currently have 158 programmes running over a wide range of subject areas.
The organisation also works closely with the City Fringe Partnership, it added.
Gary Doman, MAN Roland's sheetfed sales director, explained: "This is a tremendous initiative with which to be involved We are delighted to offer our facilities for such a gathering and especially as this meeting focuses on a topic very close to our hearts - the environment.
