The Print Room has focused its equipment selection on the production of greener printing.
The Roland 500 press has run alcohol free from day one, and vegetable oil-based inks are in daily use on the press.
Customers are able to select their substrate from a wide range of recycled papers and boards.
High levels of automation come as standard with the Roland 500, with 100% automatic settings for paper format and paper path - ideal for printers that are seeking to move into JDF production.
The on-board computer system also has the ability to store set-up data for up to 5,000 jobs.
Suction feed board and pneumatic side guides ensure smooth paper entry into the printing system, with MAN Roland's AirGlide delivery providing delivery of the finished sheet to the printed stack.
The Roland 500 at The Print Room is equipped with MAN Roland's ColorPilot system for managing colour on the run.
ColorPilot measures a complete print control strip from the printed sheet, attends to automatic calibration, and displays any deviations on the screen, all in less than 14 seconds.
Correction of the ink slide positions takes just another four seconds because all of the printing units are regulated simultaneously.
The open house event will provide an opportunity for prospective print customers to see in detail how The Print Room can effectively handle a wide range of print production requirements.
MAN Roland prospects will also be invited to see the Roland 500 in action, along with a MAN Roland supplied MKW high-volume collating system in use at the company.
The Print Room was formerly the in-house print department for the Swiss Life insurance company.
Swiss Life announced some years ago that it would be moving away from its Liverpool headquarters, and a decision was taken to allow the print department to create its own stand-alone business.
Four directors took on a business that was producing GBP400k of non-Swiss Life work, and turned it into a GBP1 million turnover printing company within three years.
