The installation of a Roland 700 Hiprint press with Roland Inline Foiler Prindor will give Hannapak's customers more opportunities to develop packaging.

MAN Roland said that the Roland press Inline Foiler Prindor, at Hannapak, is a seven-colour Roland 700 Hiprint in 3B format with coating module.

Hannapak specialises in packaging in such industries as beverage, food, confectionery, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and household products.

Sam Hanna, sales and marketing director at Hannapak, explained: 'For many years we have been successful with MAN Roland technology, we are careful to choose the very best systems for our business and our customers.

This latest investment with its in-line print enhancement not only expands our product portfolio but it also increases our added value offering to our customers.

Steve Dunwell, managing director of MNA Roland Australasia, commented: 'With its strategy Hannapak takes advantage of the value added printing philosophy of MNA Roland, which includes production efficiency to produce faster and product value, to produce better and differently.

The Roland 700 Hiprint also includes Colorpilot, and Telepresence to increase product value.

Quickchange options, automatic plate changing with APL, Roland Inline Inspector, Roland Inlinesorter, and the logistic system AUPASYS for production efficiency.

Packaging, labels and commercial printing jobs can be further enhanced with the Roland Inline Foiler Prindor through in-line overprinting of the metallic images in the printing units downstream of the unit where the foil is applied, said MAN Roland.

Additional costs for expensive embossing forms, as with the hot-foil process, are eliminated, as are additional outside production steps.

The order can be delivered sooner and change-over requires only a few manual operations, added the company.

Hannapak holds ISO certification AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 and with its investment in the Roland 700 Hiprint it strengthens its production quality.

To minimise wasted sheets from the beginning, the Colorpilot measurement and regulation system is in use.

The system uses densitometry to measure print control strips, which can be located at the sheet front or tail edge at a speed of 25cm per second.

In solid and screen patches it records eight measurement values per millimetre.

Regarding preventative maintenance and fast remote and fault diagnosis, Hannapak uses Telepresence, MAN Roland's service portal that links the printer, service technician, and printing system.

Should a press not be working perfectly or the printer is faced with an unknown problem, he can send a service request via Telepresence to the Telesupport Centre.

The Maintenance Manager software module is integrated in Telepresence for condition-oriented and efficient maintenance management.

MAN Roland claimed that the Quickchange options increase printing capacity by up to 30 per cent as it automates the operating steps required for job change-over, while Quickchange Wash cares for shorter wash-up times.

Separate washing agent circuits to simplify switching from conventional inks to UV inks.

In addition, Quickchange Coating enables the press to be changed from UV to dispersion coating in 15 minutes.

Automated Plate Loading (APL) not only makes plate changing faster but it is also fully-automatic at the press of a button.

While the plates are being changed automatically, the printer can attend to loading new piles or preparing the press for the next job.

The Roland 700 Hiprint at Hannapak is configured with a sheet inspection system, the Roland Inline Inspector and the Roland Inlinesorter waste sheet diverting system, which are reducing substrate waste and secure quality.
