Rotoman enhances magazine print competitiveness

A MAN Roland GB product story

One of largest printing houses in the Gulf region, United Printing and Publishing (UPP) in Abu Dhabi, has installed its first Rotoman press from MAN Roland.

The Rotoman has been commissioned to boost production of high-quality magazines and catalogues at UPP.

MAN Roland said that the Rotoman press provides UPP with new possibilities for succeeding in a fiercely contested market for high-quality magazines and catalogues.

At present UPP mainly produces print products for its parent company ADMC but is expanding its capacity to gain jobs from national and international customers as well.

The MAN Roland project team started the installation of the press last August in the new UPP Printing Centre.

Since early November, UPP has been producing magazines, catalogues and schoolbooks on the Rotoman.

As Peter Kuisle, executive vice president for webfed printing system sales at MAN Roland, commented: 'UPP was convinced above all by our professional project management.

Important factors behind the decision in favour of MAN Roland as a supplier was the reputation that Rotoman presses have in the Gulf region, as well as the short delivery and installation times that were possible and the local support from MAN Roland's service hub in Dubai.

Kuisle commented: 'The new UPP management wanted to make changes to make the company fit for the future.

We were in the right place with the right product at the right time.

United Printing and Publishing emerged from Emirates Media, which was founded in the early 1970s and was established as a subsidiary company of today's Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), a leading media concern in the region.

Growth has been due to a company policy that relies on further development, quality and service.
