Warners orders Roland 700 Hiprint perfector

A MAN Roland GB product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 28, 2010

Warners Midlands, a UK-based magazine, brochure and catalogue printing specialist, has invested in a 10-colour Roland 700 Hiprint perfecting press to increase production capacity.

The Roland 700 Hiprint will complement the company's web press operation, which includes a 32-page Lithoman and various Komori and Heidelberg machines.

Martin Harris, senior production manager at Warners Midlands, explained: 'We needed a machine that could stand up to the rigorous demands of our printing operation and, given the wide variety of products we'll be printing on it, could offer rapid changeover and make-ready times.

'There are host of features on this press, including automatic plate changing, Quickchange make-ready technologies, impression cylinder wash-up, Colorpilot colour control system and non-stop delivery, all of which mean this machine will offer us a competitive edge.

'The fact that we will be able print using a reel sheeter, as well as cut sheets, will also be an advantage,' he added.

MAN Roland said that its range of Quickchange technologies reduces make-ready times.

Quickchange Coating enables the press to be changed from UV to dispersion coating in 15 minutes, while Quickchange Surface can cut the time needed for cleaning the ink fountain by 50 per cent.

At the same time, Quickchange Colour is said to reduce restart waste and Quickchange Job automatically adjusts the height of the gripper bars in the in-feed drum and transferters.

With the nonstop feeder and delivery, piles are changed at production speed.

This saves time, especially when running thicker substrates, and can be linked to Aupasys automated pallet transport system.

Warners Midlands has also signed up to MAN Roland's print services and support packages including Telepresence, which will provide the company with diagnostic support and assistance.

Adam Robotham, commercial sales manager at MAN Roland GB, said: 'The fact that the Roland 700 can run completely alcohol free was a key component in the decision for Warners.

'The Roland 700 is a versatile machine as its transferter technology allows mark-free perfecting of everything from the thinnest papers and foils to light carton,' he added.
