Sensing Static's Presence

A Meech International product story

A new system that automatically controls the problems of static has been launched by Meech.

A new system that automatically controls the problems of static has been launched by Meech.

Unlike other products that merely provide static 'reporting', the 986 DC Feedback System automatically optimises static charge removal by sensing the residual charge on the target material and reacting to it claimed Meech.

Static build up is a major problem on fast production lines in printing and packaging.

Product surfaces become easily contaminated with small particles such as dust, which raises quality issues.

Residual static charges also have a detrimental effect on machine performance (such as reel winding) and static-related shock is a particular concern for worker health and safety.

The 986 DC Feedback System addresses those problems and is easy to set-up without requiring any manual adjustment afterwards believes Meech.

It reacts instantly to changing levels and polarity of static charge and controls the level automatically and intelligently.

The system consists of a sensor bar and feedback controller that is used in conjunction with the Meech 977v3 Pulsed DC controller and 976 ionising bar.

The feedback controller automatically adjusts the ion output balance by communicating with the sensor and ionising bar.

An interpretation of the achieved static control level can be made at any time by reference to an illuminated bar graph display.

Outputs have also been provided for remote connection to a remote alarm system and for data logging and records management.

Meech said that the system has already been proven through testing in a number of applications, such as slitter and rewinders, for instance.

It is available complete, or in custom retrofit for existing customers who have 976/977v3 systems already installed.
