Mix Of Papers For Marks And Spencer Publications
Two new publications launched in tandem with Marks and Spencer's new Lifestore retail venture both use paper from M-real, one of Europe's leading suppliers of fine papers for publishing and graphics.
Wood Free Uncoated Paper's New Presentation
M-real has released a new swatch book, case study and product folder for its Tauro range of wood free, white uncoated paper.
In essence, it is the unbroken path which products take from the forest to the consumer, including all stages of manufacturing, transportation and distribution.
The dual certification means that M-real's New Thames and Sittingbourne mills will now be able to put an FSC or PEFC certified label on some of their products that are made from recovered fibres or fibres that originate from certified, well-managed forests under the corresponding scheme.
Any supplying paper merchant, or printer that uses, those products can display the label, providing that they also hold the chain of custody certification.
Otherwise, the chain of custody is broken and the next owner cannot claim that the product is FSC or PEFC certified.
To achieve the chain of custody certifications, M-real had to prove that the two mills do everything possible to ensure that the wood they use originates from well-managed forests.
This included ensuring that the sources of the wood used at the mills are known and documented, and that a certain percentage of the wood used originates from certified forests.
Kate Cathie, environment manager for M-real, commented: "Consumers are increasingly looking for evidence of environmentally sound business practices, and this is becoming a growing factor in purchasing decisions throughout the print and paper industry.
Not only do the chain of custody certifications add to our sound environmental credentials, but they also provide us with a reliable and credible mechanism to give our customers proof of where our products come from.
What's more, so long as the chain is not broken, the whole supply chain will benefit from a more incentivised marketplace.".
