M-real UK MD Steps Down After 39 Years

Richard (Dick) Dickinson will retire from his position as managing director of M-real UK on March 31 after 39 years in the industry.

Richard (Dick) Dickinson will retire from his position as managing director of M-real UK on March 31 after 39 years in the industry Dickinson first joined M-real in 1967 as customs clearance clerk, eventually rising to his current position in 2003

His previous experience in the industry includes a time as managing director of Varma Services and customer service director for Metsa-Serla UK.

John Clinton, senior vice president of sales and marketing publishing for M-rea, said: "Dick has made a huge contribution to the Finnish industry and in particular to the development of M-real in the UK.

He joined us in establishing the core of the present operations in 1996 and has been part of the M-real story since then.

During this period the company and business has undergone considerable change, and Dick's leadership and experience played a major part in ensuring our continued success in the UK market.

We will all miss him and wish him well in his retirement." Following Dickinson's retirement, M-real UK will adopt a revised organisational structure.

The UK business area heads - Keith Burgham for consumer packaging, Mick Barry for commercial printing, Stephen Vail, for office papers and Andrew Gunman for publishing having expanded roles with responsibility for all commercial matters, as well as contact with key customers.

At the same time Fergus Kehily, the financial director, will take the new role of director and general manager, where he will have responsibility for M-real UK financial and legal matters, as well as the company's support functions.
