Mix Of Papers For Marks And Spencer Publications
Two new publications launched in tandem with Marks and Spencer's new Lifestore retail venture both use paper from M-real, one of Europe's leading suppliers of fine papers for publishing and graphics.
The increase is needed partly to compensate for continuing high input cost escalation, especially in energy, transport and raw materials, which cannot be recovered by productivity improvements and cost reductions already underway in M-real's business, claimed the company.
John Clinton, senior vice president of marketing and sales for M-real Publishing, said: "Whilst we realise that our customers, especially in the printing industry, are facing similar challenges, together we have to find the means to manage pricing in a co-operative way.
It is expected that the overall demand for these grades will improve in the second half of 2006, and the autumn season especially is forecast to be strong." He added: "We believe that it is essential to avoid the risk of extreme price movements, which are damaging for all in the business, and will seek agreements with our customers based on this moderate increase to current prices.".
